The Beck House is a 4-bedroom therapeutic residence developed under the Special Needs Housing Partnership Loan Program, a new State initiative to increase the opportunities for those with intellectual and developmental disabilities to find permanent supportive housing within the local community.

The development team thought “within the box” in order to create the additional bedroom, accessible living areas and support service space within the existing home’s exterior walls; under a limited development budget. The new home was designed in a manner that clearly defined the private and public spaces. To do so the original living spaces were relocated to a newly created interior space within the garage, along with service/office space; and the reuse of existing common space for existing common space for bedrooms and bathrooms. Modern durable and sustainable materials were whenever possible to minimize maintenance and improve the indoor air quality for the residents. In addition an expansive covered outdoor patio, over looking the plush green yard, enables the residents to not only enjoy each other’s company but the fresh air as well.
