Jim & Fannie Floyd House
The Jim & Fannie Floyd House adds 25 units of affordable multifamily housing to the 35-acre Princeton Community Village campus in Princeton, NJ, filling a vital need for affordable rental opportunities in one of the most affluent municipalities in New Jersey.
Floyd House is the latest of several phases of development to Princeton Community Village since its founding in 1975 by community development nonprofit Princeton Community Housing.
The new 32,728 GSF, 3-story residence is named in honor of Jim Floyd — the first Black mayor of Princeton Township, a former Princeton Township Committee member, Princeton Borough Zoning Board member, and one of the founders of Princeton Community Housing — as well as his wife, Fannie Floyd, a noted community volunteer in Princeton’s civic, charitable and religions organizations.
Nestled in a winding, park-like setting atop Princeton ridge, The Jim & Fannie Floyd House offers low- to moderate-income individuals who live, work, or go to school in Princeton a mix of 5 one-bedroom, 14 two-bedroom, and 6 three-bedroom units that are spacious, energy efficient, and adjacent to NJ Transit and other public transportation. Care was taken in the design to preserve the wooded landscape and provide ample parking so that residents and commuters could be conveniently connected to the region’s many cultural, education, and employment opportunities.
The Jim & Fannie Floyd House was designed to meet Enterprise Green Communities standards as well as the Energy Star Multifamily New Construction program, ensuring that residents are able to enjoy lower utility bills as well as comfortable, spacious, secure apartment living.
