Southside View is transforming a previously underutilized site in the City of Newark’s South Ward into an 100% affordable housing community, which moves the city one step closer toward its goal of creating or preserving 6,600 new affordable homes by 2026. The new community will offer 40 units of multifamily affordable housing and a variety of amenities including a community room with on-site supportive services for the residents.

Thriven Design is leading the architectural and engineering design as well as energy program administration in partnership with the inspirational development team of Adenah Bayoh and Octavia Frazier-Porter. The building was designed with energy saving measures to foster a healthy living environment for the residents, which will result in lowered operating costs and maintenance needs. The development is expected to earn green building certification through the New Jersey Energy Star program.

Southside View received a 9% Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) from the New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency which allowed the project to become a reality.
