Working directly with a non-profit organization, Thriven Design designed a new three-story building to serve the homeless population in Asbury Park, New Jersey. The first floor of the building houses offices, a commercial kitchen, and gathering spaces. A separate entry from The Center in Asbury Park – a drop-in support service & food pantry program – maintains the pre-existing program while adding permanent supportive housing. The remaining floors contain 25 Single Resident Occupancy apartments (SROs) which provide permanent affordable housing for homeless individuals who are living with HIV/AIDS. Center House participated in the New Jersey ENERGY STAR Program and is one of the first buildings to be completed in the redevelopment zone in Asbury Park.
