Managing Principal
Matthew Bartner, AIA LEED AP BD+C Is Managing Principal at Thriven Design. As managing principal, he is responsible for maintaining the firm’s position as a leader of integrated design services across key markets and verticals. Matt and the executive leadership team are particularly focused on growth in the affordable and student housing sectors, where Thriven Design already has a sizable presence, as well as increasing the firm’s presence in other key markets.
He leads internal project management for the firm, drawing from his more than 25 years of experience in the planning, design, and construction of many types of multifamily residential projects ranging from large-scale new construction, to the renovation of existing buildings, with the integration of sustainable design and construction methods and materials. Matt has worked with for-profit and nonprofit clients on projects from 1,000 to 200,000 square feet in size and totaling over $100 million.
With a passion for integrating elements of energy-efficiency and sustainable design into every project he is a part of, Matt designed the first LEED® Silver on-campus student residence project in the state of New Jersey. He has led the efforts toward a LEED® Gold renovation of an 85-year-old apartment building in Philadelphia, and was responsible for the successful completion of a LEED® Silver flagship supportive housing facility, also in Philadelphia, which was the first project in the state of Pennsylvania to earn the United States EPA ENERGY STAR™ Multifamily High Rise designation.
