Elmwood Square
Elmwood Square is the culmination of years of hard work by the Housing Authority of Plainfield (HAP) to redevelop Elmwood Gardens, a public housing community that had outlived its useful life. An example of a successful public-private partnership, HAP partnered with The Alpert Group, a for-profit developer experienced in urban development, and together leveraged over $19M in funding. The community features 58 town-over-flat apartments, including 43 two-bedrooms and 15 three-bedrooms, on 3.68 acres. All apartments are spacious with modern layouts and ample amenities, including central heating and air, a full kitchen appliance package, washers and dryers, and individual entrances. Apartments are Energy Star and Enterprise Green Communities certified. A free-standing community building features a community room, management and social service offices, and maintenance space. All apartments are income restricted to 50% ami or below and residents pay 30% of their income towards rent.
