The Harvard Printing Redevelopment project is part of a Transit Oriented Development (TOD) initiative designed to help address the critical need for affordable rental housing in the State of New Jersey. Bounded by Central Avenue, South Jefferson Street and Mitchell Street, the Harvard Printing site is located in a designated Smart Growth Area and within the bounds of The City of Orange’s Central Valley Redevelopment Plan as well as the Valley Hatting Historic District.  The project is within a half mile of the Highland Avenue New Jersey Transit station with access to New York City and points beyond. In addition, local bus routes provide service throughout the Orange metropolitan area.

The scope of the project includes the rehabilitation and re-purposing of an existing aging factory building into a parking garage offering 157 spaces to both residents and the neighborhood, as well as the construction of a new, 4-story mid-rise apartment building which offers 128 new units of both affordable and market rate rentals. The project is certified ENERGY STAR  Version 3 and incorporates green design features such as ENERGY STAR labeled appliances, high performance windows, building envelope air sealing, high efficiency lighting and HVAC systems, water conserving plumbing fixtures, durable and healthy flooring, Low VOC paints, primers and sealants.
