Tompkins Street Apartments

The attractively landscaped Tompkins Street Apartments blends 17 units of affordable multifamily housing seamlessly into the carefully maintained residential blocks of West Orange, NJ, providing a critically needed housing type while embracing the visual language of the region at large.
Thriven Design provided architectural services for the project, in partnership with project developer, The Alpert Group, which has a long, successful history of multifamily housing developments in the Oranges.
- In December, 2024, The Alpert Group and Thriven Design completed work on West Orange Senior Housing, a 65-unit senior residence created on the site of a former municipal library.
- In 2019, the team completed the Valley Road Residential Redevelopment, composed of 100 units of mixed-income family rental housing; 55 percent of which was set aside as workforce housing with the balance designated as market-rate housing.
- In 2017, The Alpert Group and Thriven Design completed The Harvard Printing Redevelopment, an award-winning adaptive reuse of a former printing plant into 128 units of housing with onsite parking.
Including the Tompkins Street Apartments, Thriven Design and the Alpert Group have completed a total of more than 300 units of multifamily housing in the Orange, CIty of Orange, and West Orange serving seniors, families, the formerly homeless, and those with special needs.
