Thriven Design joined The Alpert Group, The Bright Side Family, and the Township of Teaneck, among other project partners, on November 1 to celebrate the Ribbon Cutting Ceremony of 1425 Teaneck Road, an 100% affordable, age-restricted residence.
Teaneck Senior Housing

The grand opening of 1425 Teaneck marks the successful collaboration of local stakeholders, developers, New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency, and design professionals to turn a vacant municipal-owned property into a vibrant senior living community. These 40 new apartments are affordable for the residents who also benefit from on-site programs and services.

The project was developed by The Alpert Group and constructed during a period of significant material cost increases and labor shortages within the building industry. C&C Construction, the general contractor, and Thriven Design, architect on the project, worked closely with the development team to design and construct the building on time and on budget without sacrificing features essential to supporting residents’ aging-in-place, enabling residents to live comfortably and with the assurance that their home is safe and affordable.

Jewish Family & Children’s Services of Northern NJ (JFCS), a non-profit and homeless prevention organization with roots in Teaneck, is providing on-site supportive services, as is Age Friendly Teaneck, a local non-profit dedicated to helping seniors stay in their communities. Holy Name Medical Center, located less than one mile away, is providing on-site wellness services.

Residents have access to a wide complement of amenities including a large multi-purpose room, wellness room, senior-friendly exercise room, centrally located laundry rooms, a library, and a roof deck with excellent views. The main entrance faces Teaneck Road and provides immediate access to a NJ Transit bus stop. Safe, accessible off-street parking is also available for residents, with a direct lot connection through the lobby. The onsite management/leasing offices and supportive services office are adjacent to the lobby for convenient access.

The building was designed and constructed to comply with the sustainable building standards of both the ENERGY STAR Multifamily New Construction and Enterprise Green Communities programs.

For nearly 20 years, The Alpert Group and Thriven Design have partnered to transform neglected properties with transit-oriented redevelopment which has led to over 1,000 units of affordable, market-rate, and supportive housing added for families and seniors of New Jersey. In partnership with The Alpert Group, Thriven Design has provided professional architectural and engineering services towards projects like West Orange Senior Housing in the Township of West Orange, Millard Terrell Homes in the City of Newark, and Walter G. Alexander Village in the City of Orange.
