Barclay Place Wins 2023 Supportive Housing Project of the Year
Thriven Design is pleased to announce that Barclay Place, a partnership with New Jersey Community Development Corporation (NJCDC), St. Joseph’s Health, and New Jersey Community Capital, has been designated a 2023 Project of the Year by the Supportive Housing Association of NJ.
The annual Supportive Housing Association of New Jersey awards recognize successful initiatives each year that increase supportive housing opportunities across New Jersey, as well as the leadership and dedication of outstanding individuals.
The Barclay Place project arose as a response to mounting evidence that stable affordable and supportive housing is a primary factor in health and wellness. It was the first project to be developed under New Jersey Housing and Mortgage Finance Agency’s (NJHMFA) new Hospital Partnership Subsidy program, bringing nonprofit developer New Jersey Community Development Corporation and local healthcare provider St. Joseph’s Health – two well established community stakeholders in the City of Paterson – into an innovative partnership.
Thriven Design provided Architecture, Engineering, and Interior Design services for Barclay Place, which contains 56 new apartment units and a 3,000 SF ground-floor healthcare facility operated by St. Joseph’s Health. The centralization of healthcare services in an affordable housing setting serves as a progressive approach to reducing the frequency of hospitalization and emergency room visits among residents by improving their access to preventative services.
